Professorial Research Fellow

Val Curran is Director of UCL's Clinical Psychopharmacology Unit, Professor of Psychopharmacology, Research Lead at Camden & Islington’s Drug Services, a founding member of the charity Drug Science and recently also a Professorial Fellow at Cognition and Emotion Research Centre, ACU Melbourne.

Her research has spanned a wide range of drugs which act on our brains and are used medically and/or for recreational purposes. It is funded primarily by the UK Medical Research Council but also by European bodies and includes a current clinical trial of a new treatment of cannabis dependence and brain imaging studies contrasting the neural and psychological effects of different strains of cannabis.
