Prior to joining ACU as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education), Professor Skrbiš held numerous leadership positions at Monash University, including:
In these roles he oversaw duties such as: academic quality and policies, undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum, digital education, academic student experience, employability strategy, transnational education, graduate research, coursework education, graduate education innovation, professional development, executive education, and programs for the development of Early Career Researchers.
He was also accountable for the graduate programs at Monash Malaysia, IIT Bombay, Southeast University in China and those offered as part of the Monash–Warwick Alliance.
Professor Skrbiš has a strong track record in competitive grant funding, including serving as Principal Chief Investigator role on the multi-wave ARC Discovery Project ‘Social Futures and Life Pathways of Young People in Queensland’ – an infinite-life, multi-wave, multi-method cohort study of young Queenslanders that has received seven waves of ARC funding to date.
He has held multiple leadership roles at the University of Queensland and social science lecturing positions at Queensland University of Technology. He is an Honorary Professor at the University of Queensland's School of Social Science and an Honorary Monash–Warwick Professor.
