Melbourne

Our St Patrick’s Campus is located in the heart of cosmopolitan Melbourne. The cafes, shops and nightlife of Brunswick and Smith Streets are nearby, as are some of the city’s finest parks.

The campus itself is a mix of historic and modern buildings with plenty of room to study, relax and connect with other students. Over the next ten years the campus will be redeveloped to accommodate growing staff and student numbers.

Getting around Melbourne

Melbourne is a very commuter-friendly city. The campus is based in Fitzroy on the edge of the city centre, making it well serviced by trains, trams and buses. There are also many bike paths and walking routes to the campus.

We encourage and support cycling to our Melbourne campus, so we’ve made it as easy as possible to park your bike on campus.

You can find bike racks all over the campus, including inside the Daniel Mannix Building, in a bike cage on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park behind 115 Victoria Parade, and on Young Street.

Many roads that lead to our Melbourne campus have bike lanes or wide kerbside lanes for cyclists – but be careful, as always, when sharing the road with other vehicles. The rule of thumb is this: choose your cycling route based on your cycling ability. The way you drive to university might not be the way you should ride to university.

To plan your bike trip, try using the Ride the City website, which provides many detailed bike routes. The City of Yarra’s TravelSmart Map will also help you find the best bike route for you.

Twenty bus services stop within 450m of our Melbourne campus.

To find the best bus service for you, we recommend that you use the PTV Journey Planner.

If you’ve checked out your available sustainable transport options but have chosen to drive, see our parking information below.

Student parking is available in the multi-storey car park at 44 Young Street (the rear of 115 Victoria Parade) during semester time.

This car park is open 7 days a week, 6.00am–10.30pm, with a maximum charge of A$15.00 per day payable via a ticket machine.

Find out more at the Secure Parking website.

Limited street parking is available close to the University. These areas are heavily patrolled, however, so stick to the time limit or expect a ticket.

There are two disabled parking spaces available in the front car park. If you would like to discuss disabled parking requirements, please call AskACU on 1300 ASK ACU (275 228).

The nearby Parliament Train Station is serviced by 14 lines and is on the City Loop. There are frequent services all day to stations on those 14 lines, and to Flinders St Station.

The walk from the station to the campus is only 600m (about a 10-minute walk) on good, well-lit paths.

TramSix tram services stop within easy walking distance of the campus:

  • Tram Route 24: North Balwyn to City
  • Tram route 30: St Vincent’s Plaza to New Quay, Docklands
  • Tram route 86: Bundoora RMIT – Telstra Dome, Docklands
  • Tram route 96: East Brunswick – St Kilda Beach
