Completion requirements

Students in the

  • Bachelor of Education (Secondary), Bachelor of Education (Primary and Secondary) and Bachelor of Education (Secondary and Special Education) must complete
  • 20 cp from Part A.1 AND
  • 60 cp from Part B (First Teaching Area) OR 40 cp from Part C (Second Teaching Area)
  • BEDSBA or any of the vertical degrees
  • 20 cp from Part A.1
  • A major in History or Archeology (for First Teaching Area) or a minor in History or Archeology (Second Teaching Area) must be completed as part of the Bachelor of Arts component of their degree
  • Master of Teaching (Secondary) must complete
  • 20 cp from Part A.2

Schedule of unit offerings

All students taking an Ancient History Teaching Area in any degree must complete 20 points of Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment units, as outlined below.

    Part A.1 : Undergraduate CPA units

    Complete exactly 20 credit points from the following:

  • EDHI299Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment in History Education 110 CP
  • EDHI397Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment in Ancient History10 CP
  • To be taken as part of the BEDSCD, BEDPRS/PSR, BESBAH, etc

    Part A.2 : Postgraduate CPA units

    Complete exactly 20 credit points from the following:

  • EDHI599History Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment 110 CP
  • EDHI697Ancient History Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment10 CP
  • To be taken as part of the Master of Teaching (Secondary) or any postgraduate teaching degrees.

Complete six history discipline units, comprising:

  • the two compulsory history units AND
  • two ancient history units AND
  • two other history units (Ancient or Modern) NEED TO CONFIRM THAT THIS IS CORRECT. HAVE OTHER ADVICE THAT THEY CAN ONLY DO 1 MODERN/MEDIEVAL UNIT (which is taken up by the compulsory unit)

Within these discipline units:

  • not more than 1 non-compulsory unit can be a 100-level unit AND
  • at least 1 non-compulsory unit must be a 300-level unit.
