An exciting new development is under development.

Saint Teresa of Kolkata Building

ACU Melbourne Campus Construction of the Saint Teresa of Kolkata Building is currently underway at Australian Catholic University’s (ACU) Melbourne Campus.

This project will see the former ground level carpark at the corner of Victoria Parade and Napier Street transformed into a 12-storey, 18,344sqm teaching and learning space.

The new building is part of our plan to accommodate student and staff growth at our Melbourne Campus and provide the best facilities for our students.

The Saint Teresa of Kolkata Building will feature upgraded student amenities, green space, underground parking and recreation facilities, including a rooftop sports court.

Construction of the building commenced in November 2018 and is expected to be completed by approximately mid-2022.

The new building will provide a range of new facilities to improve the experience of students, staff and the community at our Melbourne Campus, including:

  • new teaching and learning spaces
  • a rooftop multi-sport court
  • an elevated garden with views of the city
  • staff, student and postgraduate hubs
  • car and bicycle parking for staff and students
  • kitchen facilities and lounge areas
  • personal and group study areas
  • conference facilities.

We’re working to minimise disruption on campus throughout construction of the Saint Teresa of Kolkata Building. And we’ll be communicating regularly with our students and staff to ensure everyone is informed.

Construction workers will be on campus throughout the duration of the project. You may hear construction noise, see work happening on-site, or need to take alternative routes when walking through the campus.

Your safety is our priority – so students, staff and visitors are asked to observe direction and safety signs throughout the campus and follow the instructions of traffic controllers.

The Campus Park

The Young Street Campus Park interim landscape project will provide a high-quality and inviting space at the Melbourne Campus, on the site of the current carpark.

The Campus Park will be a safe and flexible open space that will be a social hub for the university and community. It will feature large flexible-use areas and smaller, more intimate, spaces and has been designed to reflect ACU’s culture of faith, inclusiveness and sustainability.

The park site is part of the approved Development Plan Overlay (DPO) and has approval for a future building. This temporary park is intended to meet the campus’s current needs while allowing for further campus expansion in the future.
