Industry-sponsored scholarships

Power your PhD with industry support

An industry-sponsored scholarship gives you financial support to work on a project that matters to both academia and industry. You’ll collaborate with a partner organisation, often with co-supervision, and your research will tackle real industry challenges.

Industry internships

Apply your research skills to an industry challenge

An industry PhD internship lets you tackle real-world challenges with an industry partner, applying your expertise to a co-designed R&D project. Over 3 months (60 full-time equivalent days), you’ll be embedded in the organisation, gaining hands-on experience, dual mentorship, and professional training in communication, project management, and commercialisation. Plus, you’ll receive a stipend.

ACU partners with APR.Intern to deliver these internships. Learn more and explore opportunities on the APR.Intern website.

Industry embedment

Work side-by-side with industry experts

Industry embedment lets you collaborate directly with an industry partner on R&D activities tied to your PhD. Spend at least 60 days working alongside professionals in your field, gaining practical insights and building valuable connections. You can embed through employment, supervision by an industry expert, or leveraging your supervisor’s industry links. Just make sure it’s arranged within 18 months of starting your PhD (or 36 months if part-time).
