{{course.CourseDescription}}
Described as "faith seeking understanding" in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition, theology examines all the ways such understanding can be pursued through academic disciplines such as the arts, humanities or social sciences. Theology’s first responsibility is to truth itself, whether disclosed through divine revelation, philosophical exploration or the interweaving of both alongside other academic disciplines in the common search for wisdom. As an arts major, theology study is fascinating, thought-provoking, challenging, and very rewarding intellectually and spiritually. It also has very practical ramifications, relating faith, spirituality and scholarship to a concern for the common good, the dignity of the human person, and stewardship of the environment and all creation. For these reasons, theology is relevant to professions committed to promoting human flourishing.
Choose theology as an arts major and you’ll study the specialisation through ACU’s Faculty of Theology and Philosophy, a leader in religion and religious studies research in Australia. You’ll also be connected to our network of Catholic and theological partners, research institutes, academies and centres. When you finish, you’ll have demonstrated advanced skills in critical thinking, analysis of complex arguments, academic writing, independent research, and verbal and written communication – all of which are highly valued by employers.
We're available 9am–5pm AEDT,
Monday to Friday
