About paramedicine

Make vital decisions in moments. Paramedics provide medical assessment, treatment, and care in out-of-hospital environments. They’re on the front line, frequently the first to the scene of an emergency to examine patients and tend to their critical needs. Study paramedicine and you’ll be on your way to work as a paramedic in an ambulance service in Australia or internationally. Whether you’re responding to Triple Zero call-outs or providing first aid treatment at outdoor events, your career will make a difference every single day, and might even save lives.

Your paramedicine pathway

Choose which paramedicine course works best for you. You can pick from the entry-level Bachelor of Paramedicine, our professional entry stream if you're already working as a paramedic, or our one-year Honours program for high-achieving paramedicine graduates.

Academic to paramedic

As a paramedicine graduate, you’ll be eligible to work with emergency ambulance services in Australia, as well as some international ambulance and health organisations. With further study, you can also go on to become an intensive care paramedic, clinical instructor, ambulance service manager, flight paramedic, special operations team rescue paramedic, and more.

Broaden your horizons

Enjoy your time with us before your career begins. As a paramedicine student, you may be eligible to complete part of your degree overseas, such as studying healthcare ethics at our Rome Campus. You can also immerse yourself in an international community engagement project, like assisting an ambulance service in Timor Leste.

Firsthand experience

There’s no better way to learn than out in the field. As a paramedicine student, you’ll be given a range of professional experience opportunities, whether it’s placements in emergency ambulance and hospital settings, or clinical practice in emergency or simulated emergency environments.
