Dr Brendon Murphy

Senior Lecturer

Dr Brendon Murphy is a Senior Lecturer at the Thomas More Law School, North Sydney Campus of the Australian Catholic University. He has served as Associate Professor at Canberra Law School, Senior Lecturer at the University of Newcastle, and Foundation Lecturer at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Prior to joining the academy in 2007, he worked as In-house solicitor for the University of Newcastle, and in litigation in Newcastle after being admitted as a legal practitioner in the NSW Supreme Court.

Dr Murphy was awarded a Citation for Excellence in Teaching by the Australian Teaching and Learning Council and a Vice Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning. His PhD was awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Research Excellence. He brings over twelve years’ experience as an academic to his work. His research work straddles criminal law and procedure, investigations law and regulation, research methodology, policing and the intersection of law and social theory. He has published widely, including in the Australian Criminal Law Journal, Griffith Law Review and Queens Law Journal.
