Course accreditation

Our courses are accredited by major industry bodies including the Australian Physiotherapy Council, the Australian Association of Social Workers, Speech Pathology Australia and the Occupational Therapy Board. Depending on the discipline, students can become members of Occupational Therapy Australia, the World Federation of Occupational Therapists, and the Australian Physiotherapy Association. Graduates can register as practising professionals with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra).

Facilities and services

Our clinical programs will give you access to contemporary, state-of-the-art facilities so you can build hands-on skills before treating real patients. Our facilities include mock hospital wards, where physio students work with high-fidelity mannequins, and occupational therapy labs, where students can practise in mock apartments fitted out with a range of rehabilitation and disability equipment.

Health clinics

Allied health students can complete their practical rotations at one of our on-campus health clinics. These clinics are open to staff, students and the general public, and a clinician supervises all sessions. Services include physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech pathology, social work and exercise physiology.

Staff profile

Associate Professor Jane McCormack

Assistant Deputy Head, School of Allied Health, North Sydney

Associate Professor Jane McCormack is the Head of Discipline and National Course Coordinator of the Bachelor of Speech Pathology and the Assistant Deputy Head of School (Allied Health) (NSW). She has worked as a speech-language pathologist in community health clinics, schools, and early intervention settings and is a certified practicing member of Speech Pathology Australia. She teaches subjects relating to developmental speech and language difficulties, research and professional practice and enjoys supervising honours and higher degree research students.

Research interests

The life experiences of children with speech and language difficulties.
Application of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF WHO, 2001) in speech pathology.
Collaborative practice and alternative models of speech pathology education and service delivery.

Staff profile Professor Suzanne Kuys

Suzanne Kuys

Head of School

Professor Suzanne Kuys is the Head of Discipline, Physiotherapy and leads the Master of Rehabilitation program. Dr Kuys has considerable clinical, teaching and research experience with people following stroke and other neurological conditions and older adults, particularly people undergoing rehabilitation and transitioning from the hospital to home. She has been a clinician for 25 years, with more than 15 years’ experience in stroke rehabilitation.
