Our researchers focus on a number of health research areas including acute care, cardiovascular disease, acute stroke, palliative care and Indigenous health and aged care. We have strong ties with the Nursing Research Institute at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney.

Staff profile ACU Kim Foster

Kim Foster

Professor, Mental Health Nursing

Professor Kim Foster’s role is to conduct high-quality collaborative research, with mental health nurses, consumers, carers and multidisciplinary colleagues, that translates into effective care and improves the wellbeing and outcomes of mental health consumers and carers. Her main areas of research have been co-associated physical and mental health, children and families with challenging physical and/or mental health conditions, and the capacity  of the mental health workforce to provide quality care.

Staff profile ACU Paul Fulbrook

Dr Paul Fulbrook

Professor, Nursing

Dr Paul Fulbrook is Professor of Nursing at ACU. He also holds a joint appointment as Nursing Director, Research and Practice Development at The Prince Charles Hospital in Brisbane, where he leads the Nursing Research and Practice Development Centre. Within the critical care context, Dr Fulbrook has been widely published and spoken at many international and national conferences. He is currently involved with several research projects in intensive care and emergency care.
